I would highly recommend using this product over the full version of Microsoft Access If you are taking your first intro class to Microsoft you will not make it to the last sections of the book.
The “brief” version allows you to buy just the sections of the book that the intro class will be teaching! Saves money and you back from carrying this huge book. The book itself is very easy to read and has great explanations on how to do developed techniques.
Each section is broken down by color and has very helpful color coding through the book. The testing at the end of each chapter is very easy to follow and has step by step questioning.
I would recommend this book for any student of any person just looking to brush up on their Access skills. The book is easy enough to follow that one could self teach if you wanted to. One person found this helpful. But wrapping the lessons into the instructions was This book hides the content of the lessons with the lesson itself.
The experienced ends up having to a chapter many times over because there is no recap just an evaluation at the end of every lesson. So if something is missed, then scroll back and look again. I strongly advise against this book because it is inconvenient to read. I procrastinated until the last day of my homework due to this inconvenience. I strongly advise a revision. Not because of the instructions, the instructions are good. But wrapping the lessons into the instructions was a horrible idea.
Colleges: Please Quit Requiring This! The way it delivers content is wrecked. Not misinformed but horribly constructed. Especially for those that are familiar with Microsoft Access because we have to filter as we read and get to the assignment but some of the assignment gets filtered because its fused in with the lessons..
You can teach better without it. It will take me some time to get work through and absorb all the details in the book. I will do it, as it is a well -presented book. Good Job. The book was okay, but access through Sam. The videos were very clear in that you can see step by step processes.
Just reading about the processes was boring, flat and a two dimensional process it was like seeing a movie in SD when you have an HDTV. Luckily this was a backup and I had access to the book online when needed. This is a great book for beginners learning Access. The teaching method they use in this book, and the others in the New Perspectives series, works very well for those who learn by doing. You go step-by-step learning concepts by working on real-world examples.
