There’s an issue in Outlook and the Exchange server, where the server has a limit of 32 MAPI sessions, but for some reason Outlook must not do a very good job managing them. I’ve heard most people complain about this using portable computers and docking stations, but I thinks it’s relevant to most anyway. The key is to go into the Outlook Account Settings and disable “Download shared folders”.
One way to check if this is the issue is once the user is having problems and is stuck disconnected, check the Exchange event logs for event ID You can find more info about it in Microsoft KB article as well if you’d like. I had read somewhere sometime this summer that a fix for this was supposed to be released in December, so hopefully it’s coming out soon.

I’ve heard most people complain about this using portable computers and docking stations, but I thinks it’s relevant to most anyway. The key is to go into the Outlook Account Settings and disable “Download shared folders”.
One way to check if this is the issue is once the user is having problems and is stuck disconnected, check the Exchange event logs for event ID You can find more info about it in Microsoft KB article as well if you’d like. I had read somewhere sometime this summer that a fix for this was supposed to be released in December, so hopefully it’s coming out soon. My users haven’t had any disconnected problems since I found that solution though.
